Sophie & Edmund

Their story began back in 2018 sparked by an office rumour: someone fancied Sophie. When she heard it was Edmund, her first thought was, "he's far too edgy for me!" They had met a few times prior around the office and over drinks. Sophie vaguely recalls trying on his glasses and a spontaneous dance in the local pub.

The spark truly caught on at the next work social, where a free bar led to a first kiss. The following week, Sophie was excited to find a surprise new addition to the company dodgeball team: Edmund.

With Sophie about to depart for a 16 day trip to Italy with her brother James, the pressure was on. Guided by their friend and colleague Stef, Edmund was wisely advised it was “now or never” and he asked Sophie on their official first date.

From London to Amsterdam

Seven years, a relocation from London and a new home in Amsterdam later, life looked a little different. On the recommendation of their neighbours Daan and Nienke, they discovered the magic of hiring a boat from Overleek. Sophie had first explored the area during a visit with her brother James. She loved it so much she brought Edmund back a few months later to navigate the breathtaking waters of Broek in Waterland.

That same year, against the backdrop of a Thai sunset, Edmund proposed. The ring was truly one-of-a-kind: a beautiful blend of old and new. It featured a central diamond from Sophie’s Grandma Sylvia’s engagement ring, lovingly gifted by her Mum Annette, which Edmund then paired with two perfectly matched diamonds he chose himself.

The Big Day

When it came to choosing a venue, Edmund suggested returning to the village they fell in love with: Broek in Waterland. There, they discovered Het Broeker Huis tucked away at its heart. This sentimental spot, just a stone’s throw from their home, felt like the perfect place to gather their favorite people.
